Speed Quilting

I have a deadline on my latest project. The quilt needs to be finished and in the mail by November 15th. The fabric just arrived yesterday -- Moda Grunge in these delicious colors.

Three hours on Friday night to make one block as a trial, then do all the cutting.

This pattern uses an hour glass block as a starter. Once those were done, I was able to chain piece all the other units. The hour glass blocks took an hour and a half. I found this great Quilt in a Day ruler amongst my other rulers. Don't think I'd ever used it. It was perfect for squaring up these blocks.

The rest of the chain piecing took another six hours. Chain piecing is a quilters fast friend. It allows you to put together your blocks in a systematic, assembly line manner. Saves not only time, but thread also. Got to use my little gizmo thread cutter. It makes for fast snipping.

Finished all the blocks! Not bad for a day's work. You'll have to check back with me in a few months when I can show you the full quilt......or maybe you'll see it in a magazine!? :)

Quilt on!
