For a baby girl
Hi quilter friends. I made a little baby quilt I'd like to share with you today. I used three designs from Elizabeth Hartman's book Fancy Forest. It didn't take too long to put together. It is rather small, but hopefully bright enough to be loved by a child. The recipient in mind just entered this world a few days ago, at almost 10 pounds and 22 inches long! She is the daughter of a co-worker. I had planned on making her a quilt but just hadn't gotten around to it, then she came two weeks early. Nothing like an early birth to get you motivated.
I'm working on my skills for machine binding. I think I'm getting better. Rather than sew it down on the front, I'm doing like most other people do, sewing the binding on the front, pulling it around to the back over the seam, and stitching in the ditch from the front. I only had to go back in about 3 places where it hadn't caught.
Washed, dried and crinkled.
My quilts are usually very thin because I prefer the 100% cotton batting. I just love a thin quilt.
Hope the baby girl (and momma) like it!
