Summertime quilting

I've really been busy on the quilting front. I finished the Little Miss Sawtooth quilt top and am crazy about it. Can't wait to start the one in blues/greens. The picture doesn't do this beauty justice.

Also completed a quick and easy patriotic quilt. This is Stars and Stripes by Thimbleblossoms and I purchased the kit which was made up of Bonnie and Camille fabrics. So nice.

I quilted a stars and loops design but wish I'd done a more dense pattern. It did look better after a wash and dry.

On mine, I mixed up the fat quarter reds, unlike the pattern. I like it.

Using the school glue stick, the binding was glued and pressed down in place and machine stitched from the front, in the groove, catching the binding in back. THIS IS A GAME CHANGER for me. SO neat and quick.

I've been cutting my bindings at 2 1/4" lately. If I cut it bigger I tend to pull too much to the back.

Isn't that backing just the cutest?

If you don't have one of these, go get one. A quilting glove. I've had mine for years (hence, the holes) but it really helps to grip the quilt when you sew on the binding.

And on a personal note, we took my grandkids swimming today and before the day was up this girl was jumping and diving off the board. She did not know how to swim just a few weeks ago. I think she has been swimming maybe 5-6 times.

And, have to share another.....we had a super rainy storm a few days ago and afterwards this was seen all over our little town.

Amazing, right? Hope you are enjoying your summer and doing lots of quilting. Thanks for stopping by!
